Curious Exchange welcomes proposals that follow a specific cultural form across communities and explain what changes along the way. A strong contribution is clear, carefully bounded and useful to a general reader.

What to propose

We are interested in words, objects, foodways, customs and creative forms that can be explored through a distinct question. Choose a subject with enough context to explain its movement and adaptation, but narrow enough for one focused piece. We do not need a sweeping claim about an entire culture.

What makes a good pitch

Tell us the central question, the particular example or route you would follow, why the subject merits attention and what context a reader will need. Be clear about what you can support and where uncertainty remains. A proposal should offer an original angle, not simply a list of interesting facts.
